Poverty Alleviation – Income Generation, Micro Credit

PDA has persuaded socially-minded private business companies, which are ready to help society, to participate in rural development under the “Business for Social Project” started in 1988. This project helps companies with ideas for social activities or “Corporate Social Responsibility” participate in rural development in accordance with the company’s policies, resources and capability in order to transfer knowledge about managing production, finance and marketing to the villagers who still lack the opportunity to make money. The activities benefit the rural people in learning how to operate businesses with better careers and incomes, leading to the improvement of the quality of life and reduce the problem of relocating to find work. The company will support the expenses and join the operation while PDA will provide coordination, M&E and PR. The project combines the expertise of the company in business management and the expertise of PDA in rural development. The ‘Village Development Partnership (VDP)’ program has more than 120 private business companies participating in more than 200 projects. In addition, PDA also cooperated with the Department of Industrial Promotion and entrepreneurs in bringing industry to the countryside by establishing factories in a rural areas, providing employment and income for thousands of people.
