The first activity of PDA in 1974 was a comprehensive family planning program with 12,000 volunteers in 16,000 villages. Community clinics and mobile health units provided knowledge, advice and contraceptives (pills, condoms, injectables, IUD). Sponsored by Ministry of Public Health, PDA also provided male sterilization and health care service over 157 districts in 48 provinces. PDA’s contribution to one of the most successful family planning project is recognized internationally, with millions of Thais having access to contraceptives and vasectomies.
